Ladelay Review – Another Chinese site to Scam Americans?

Ladelay dot com is an online shop selling a wide array of products, such as women’s fashion, kitchen and dining accessories, toys, food items, and much more.

This review summarizes an investigation we conducted on July 25, 2021 to determine whether Ladelay is a legitimate shopping site or another retail SCAM.

When trying to determine if a certain online offer is a scam, the first thing we want to look at is the URL, or the Uniform Resource Locator, which is also known as a web address.

We notice that Ladelay is a strange name for a website. Is it LA Delay? Or perhaps Lady + Delay? Strange name…

Preliminary Checks

The domain ladelay.com was registered on June 10, 2021. Less than 2 months before this review was written.

One might think they are still building their website when seeing the amateurish design. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case since the website is already trending in Google, meaning it is heavily advertised.

The fact that it is so new means we may have trouble locating real consumer reviews.

And with no legitimate websites linking to this domain, ladelay.com is almost invisible. Even visiting ladelay.com is impossible. You must have a specific URL to access the site.

The domain will expire in June 10, 2022 unless renewed, which is concerning since a website that plans on being around for a long time will usually take advantage of the lower rates of registering a domain for longer periods.

It is also protected by Cloudflare and the owners of the domain are using a privacy service to hide their identity.

The registrant contact however is revealed to be in Beijing, China.

Website

Now, we’re ready to visit the website.

Ladelay is not blacklisted by any website legitimacy engines and the connection is secure with an SSL certificate issued by Cloudflare.

But who are you shopping from? Who is behind Ladelay?

According to information on the website, the person behind ladelay.com is:

M Paul Jones.

Email: ramshaiddon57@gmail.com

Tel: 435-730-6500 (a Utah number)

Interestingly, there’s a company called Paul Jones Trucking based out of Brigham City, Utah. And the 435-730-6500 number is their number. A side business of M Paul Jones or identity theft? We think it’s the latter…

Address: 513 HOLIDAY, BRIGHAM CITY, UT, 84302 (according to Google Maps, this is a residential address.)

In another spot on the same website, the same details are repeated with the exception of the email address which changes to: contact@tokjinyu.com. (Tokjinyu seems to be the former website of a UI/UX digital designer from Singapore called Tok Jin Yu. So is Ladelay one of his newest designs? Not that great to be honest…)

They also have a Contact Form.

This website does not have proper business contact information. No company name, business address, LinkedIn or any other social profiles, and a gmail email address…

Listen, this doesn’t look good.

Now, we look at the actual products:

The price for Grass Fed & Pasture Raised Beef Gelatin by Great Lakes Gelatin 3 Pack is $52.39 at Ladelay and $65.45 on Amazon.com.

Light Blue Eau De Toilette Spray Men 4.2 oz costs $72 at Ladelay and $54.98 on Amazon.com.

So some products are underpriced and others are overpriced.

Payment methods accepted include PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Maestro, and American Express. These are secure methods, which means that if you get scammed, there’s a chance to get your money back. But it might not be easy…

One strange thing is that when we opened up the cart page, it was already loaded with two products we did not add:

  • an iPad Air 4 – Wi-Fi – 64 GB – Silver for $98
  • and a Quest All-in-One VR Gaming Headset 64GB for $79.20

Both are underpriced, which makes us think this is a too-good-to-be-true type of scheme, or perhaps they just hope you will not notice you have items in the cart and buy them by mistake…

And the more items we stayed on the website, additional items kept getting added to the cart. Could it be that all users are seeing what all other users are adding to their shopping carts? Very strange indeed.

There was also a pending previous order by Milka Alvarado for $98.00. Other amateurish features of this website include:

  • Spelling/grammatical errors, such as “WE ONLY ALLOW ONE CUSTOMER PURCHASE AMOUNTS UNDER $99”
  • the Gift certificate page doesn’t work
  • the home page (ladelay.com) doesn’t work, as we already mentioned
  • The discount coupon page as well as other pages on the website contains the following text: “This section of text is from the Define Pages Editor located under Tools in the Admin. To remove this section of the text, delete it from the Define Pages Editor.”
  • Most alarmingly, shipping addresses appeared, hopefully these are not real addresses by Ladelay clients.

Community

Searching Google for Ladelay returns scores of reviews by various review sites. Some have limited value since they contain automatically generated content.

One of the more useful reviews contain the following comment, which was posted in July 23, 2021:

Up date. The contact information name and # is listed with a email address. I called it. There is a VOICE MESSAGE WHICH STATES THE GUY PAUL IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH LADY AT ALL THE ADDRESS IS HIS HOME RESIDENCE AND IT’S NOT AFFILIATED AT ALL AND SOMEHOW THEY HAVE USED HIS INFORMATION SO IT’S DEFINITELY A SCAM.. Previous Projects by Tok Jin Yu

Going down the rabbit hole through the tokjinyu.com connection, we discover something very sinister is going on…

  • genghile.com – similar design as ladelay.com with a wide array of products
  • ugandhi.com – another ladelay.com clone
  • mayafolie.com – provides the email address michelle@tokjinyu.com.
  • cutscraft.com
  • sg246.com
  • wshengw.com
  • cridiyer.com
  • ourstores.online
  • cricutuk.com
  • imace.shop
  • claenal.com
  • turntablesale.club
  • regraman.one
  • anonimatojeans.com – uses contact5@tokjinyu.com
  • beryln.com
  • febsale.com
  • jdshoes.online – contact4@tokjinyu.com
  • mkbuys.com – contact3@tokjinyu.com
  • offlshop.com

Ladelay Review Conclusion

Ladelay is a highly suspicious website and most likely a scam.

We recommend not buying from them because there is currently no indication that they can be trusted.

Serious red flags include:

  • a residential business address & fake phone number
  • too good to be true prices
  • amateurish website
  • gmail address
  • a part of a whole network of scam shopping sites
