Step2 Scam (Step2ToysCE.com Review)

Our followers may recall that recently we exposed the website step2toysale.cc, which we revealed to be a Step2 Impersonating Scam.

While step2toysale.com and step2toysale.cc were created on April 27, step2toysce.com was registered 4 days earlier, on April 23.

The real Step2 Holding Company, LLC “is the largest American manufacturer of preschool and toddler toys and the world’s largest rotational molder of plastics”

Step2 Discovery is located in Streetsboro, Ohio and includes:

  • The Step2 Company, LLC (“Step2”)
  • Step2 Direct (“Step2.com”)
  • Backyard Discovery (“Backyarddiscovery.com”) located in Pittsburgh, KS.

Now, the website in question – step2toysce.com – that contains the Step2 brand name and even logo is clearly a scam. There’s no need to waste time in determining that.

We have contacted Step2 regarding this scam 3 months ago and their answer was:

Someone is trying to scam people. We are aware and trying to get it taken down.

Apparently, it is not so easy to take down a fraudulent website. And who suffers from that if not us, the consumers? For example, on July 26, 2021 a person from Franklin County, Ohio reported at the Better Business Bureau:

I ordered a toy from this business on April 27, 2021. I received a knock off pair of sunglasses in June, 2021. I have communicated by email with this business many times subsequently to remedy the mistaken order. They refuse to refund my payment ($33.99) or send the toy I originally ordered.

To summarize this scam warning…

There is a network of websites that has been impersonating the Step2 brand as well as other brands and defrauding consumers. All of them provide the following email address: email@customercarefor.com, helpdesk@customercarefor.com, mailbox@customercarefor.com, office@customercare.com etc. These potentially include (many of them are no longer active):

And countless others. The way these sites work that they advertise sought after items with huge discounts, but if you make a purchase, you will often get something different and far cheaper, if you will get anything at all. And sometimes there’s no way to get refunded apparently…

Often, they are being advertised on Facebook. Reporting to Facebook probably will not help. Remember that you as a FB user is a product, while scammers such as the people behind this scam are the paying customers.
